Hello and welcome. It becomes an article that is GREATLY needed. At the very least I think it is. I started wearing make-up around age of 14 and when I started, it absolutely was the incorrect shade for my skin. So! I am just looking to speak out for all the Beautiful, Brown-Skinned Black Women who have as hard a time finding make-up as I do. So, i want to supply you with a little background on me.
Firstly, Black is beautiful, and the darker the berry the sweeter the juice! With that being said, at 14 I found myself a little bit blackberry without a clue. When I first started wearing make-up it was just lipstick and yes it started being my mom’s Fashion Fair. My mother who is light-skinned and contains a daughter who seems to be dark-skinned. Naturally her lipstick did NOT match in any way. I used to be even referred to as a dark-skinned Ronald McDonald with a previous ex-boyfriend!
So, I believe that us brown-skinned and dark-skinned women need some extra help as it is tougher for people like us to discover make-up that matches in drugstores, or best makeup for dark skin that is certainly affordable. Plus Cosmo and Glamour and all of them always be referring to great make-up for spring, but uh, hello would you forget black girls like make-up for spring too? So, I feel your pain. I am just a self-appointed makeup aficionado, and want to offer my experiences as well as some goods that are FABO rather than a whole lot fabo. So… without further ado, let’s get moving!
JUST AN FYI: These are typically all make-ups i have experienced to use through experimentation so I am sharing from EXPERIENCE!
FACE: I find it hard to find the best foundation, and full-coverage make-up that may be affordable so below are a few wonderful finds that we have realized that happen to be both.
1-Cover Girl Queen Collection Natural Hue Liquid Foundation- Spicy Brown
PROS- it is good at matching skin color that have yellow or red undertones, spreads easily and when you merely need moderate coverage provides you with a good bang for your buck. It really is affordable ranging about 6-8 bucks, and you will believe it is in many drugstores, and food markets.
CONS- For those who have dark spots and blemishes, this will likely NOT provide you with the policy you need! Not really close, okay? Additionally, it wears off quickly so you would need to reapply often. The bottle is upside down with a little spout, so if you pour out excessive, you are unable to put it back in the bottle and then in these times of economic crisis er’ little bit counts am I right ladies?!
Also, if you have troubles matching your skin layer tone because you have BOTH yellow and red, or even blue and red undertones, this collection will not be to suit your needs because there is not just a vast selection to pick from, so you may have to proceed. Other shades that are ideal for brown-skinned to dark-skinned gals, and some people fellas! Rich Mink, Sheer Espresso, and True Ebony.
2- Cover Girl Queen Collection Natural Hue Compact Foundation
PROS-It gives you more coverage compared to the Liquid Foundation. That’s it. That’s about all I can think about.
CONS-Unfortunately, it rubs off QUITE quickly. It is additionally tinted slightly differently compared to liquid foundation therefore i thought it was harder to suit my skin tone. Also, whenever it was warm outside it wipes RIGHT off, and revealed every blemish on my face! LOL, in addition, it wipes off on your own clothes, stains both hands, the complete bit. It’s moderately priced at the same time, so if you would like look nice to get a date through the night, going somewhere cool, it’s a simple fix, but I wouldn’t wear it to the club, or even a carnival, anywhere that can be warm, or sweaty. It is available in exactly the same.
3- Black Opal True Color Liquid Foundation – Black Walnut
PROS-Awesome Coverage. There is a reasonably bit inside the bottle therefore it may last you a good while. It is really an upright standing bottle with a generous opening, if you pour out excessive, it won’t be too difficult to get back into the bottle, so that you can SAVE, SAVE, SAVE! I wear foundation every day, sometimes wash my face and re-apply if heading out that night, and this bottle lasts me in regards to a good 2 months roughly. You will find that it ranges from about 8-12 bucks… according to where you reside. It is therefore a great buy.
CONS- In case you have combination to oily skin, WEAR POWDER, and maintain it with you! Over these upcoming warm to hot days, you could possibly look really greasy inside the face. But when you retain Blotters with you, or powders, you have to be okay. Also, it might just be that MY skin tone changes, in case that is the case disregard, having said that i learn that as i check out buy a fresh one, the shade may not match much like the previous one, so be mindful of the.
Another con is the fact that Black Opal Products might be a little harder to get in stores than other items that I mention. I don’t determine if it’s that they’re not too popular, or what, but whenever I look I usually see them in either Rite-Aid, or CVS. So, happy hunting. Other colors great for brown-skinned girls… Carob, Suede Mocha, and Ebony Brown….. And then for you borderline caramel to brown-skin girls, Hazelnut!
4-Maybelline Pure Make-Up (Shine Free Foundation with H2O) – Cocoa (Dark 3)
PROS- Very affordable, easy to find. Positioned in Most drugstores, supermarkets, Wal-Mart. Costs range about 5.99-10 bucks, dependant upon your region. Full coverage, doesn’t clog your pores, spreads easily.
CONS-Upside down tube, so you should be exact about how much is required for the face, cause if you are using too much… it will go to waste. Limited colors for darker skin color. They only have THREE shades for females of the color. Dark 1- Tan, Dark 2- Caramel, and Dark 3-Cocoa. I actually have used the Cocoa. It can be way too dark for my skin-tone.
However, the Caramel Dark 2 is just too light. So, if you are pressed for the money and don’t have enough money to experiment, I wouldn’t waste my time about this product. They have FIVE shades committed to light, FOUR for medium and merely three for all of us darkies??!!! Leave this product alone, if you do not eventually match EXACTLY. Good luck evading the lady who attempts to watch you whenever you make an effort to sample the items inside the store!
5- Black Radiance Color Perfect Oil Free Liquid Makeup- Cocoa Bean
PROS-Very economical! VERY! Somewhat accessible. Costs about 5.99-10 bucks, and you can find it in a number of Beauty Supply stores, CVS carries it. Spreads evenly, good coverage, get a great deal for your personal buck. Also, can be purchased in a jar with an open spout, when you have excessive, you can input it back there. Gives you a good matte finish.
CONS- Cocoa Bean fails to match my complexion! Having Said That I also have strange undertones going on with my skin, so which can be why it is so difficult to fit. Whenever you apply this make-up it dries a different color, it’s crazy. There’s this… weird… applicator thingy, unclear what to do with it, nevertheless it just became within my way basically. Says it will work for all kinds of skin, but I have very sensitive skin on my face, and so i found out that within thirty minutes my face was suffocating and that i needed to wash them back. Other shades to test are Brownie and Mocha Honey.
6- L’Oreal True Match Super Blendable Makeup- Nut Brown
PROS-Oh my goodness you guys this make-up was awesome! Spread really, excellent! Matches wonderfully to get a yellow undertone. Does indeed a brown-skinned girl justice. Light, so that your skin can breathe. Good coverage for ladies with blemishes. Pretty easy to find, and i also point out that with hesitance, because 7 times from 10 they will carry all BUT the shades for brown-skinned. Um, I locate them at Wal-Mart, Walgreens..and that’s pretty much it.
CONS- This product has SPF and that i am VERY allergic to sun block thus it broke me out something terrible. Form of difficult to get. It’s a little bit more expensive in comparison to the previous products mentioned. MMM, I would say about 10.99 or higher. You could possibly believe it is discounted. Also, there is not a whole lot in the bottle, so use sparingly whenever you can. Other shades to try out…. Soft Sable and Cocoa.
7- Revlon Color Stay Makeup with Soft Flex – Mahogany
PROS- Pretty readily available generally in most drugstores. Colors are perfect for brown-skinned girls. Kind of affordable. A bit in the high end but about 9.99-12.99 with this product. The coverage is okay… Not the most effective, but if you are searching for light to moderate coverage this is an excellent product.
CONS- Now, I came across that Mahogany failed to match my undertones that great. I know…. Again using the undertones. It dried and made my skin look a bit grayish and chalky. There is 58deyypky really a good selection to pick from for darker skin tones. Has SPF6, damaging to me, but good for everyone who is just not allergic. Also, again, should you don’t have the undertone problem…. Other shades to try… Cappuccino and Mocha.
Not only that but Most certainly not least…
8- Maybelline Dream Liquid Mousse – Cocoa (Dark 3)
PROS- OH MY GOSH…… loving this product!! (sing song voice) here is the current make up I am just using now! It def does what the commercial says. It covers your pores, and provides you a great finish! Maximum coverage! Need NO concealer, well… maybe somewhat, having said that i don’t use any. It is extremely affordable, any where from about 7-10 bucks. I found it right with the Kroger food store, so it must be offered at most pharmacies. It features a nifty little nozzle that squirts out and it’s really convenient. Also, it is whipped feeling, and so i apply with my fingers.
It simply glides right on, and begins covering my pores and dark spots, and its not very heavy, I don’t have to wear a bunch. The top also comes off, thus if I over-squirt, I will use it right back into the bottle. There’s lots within the bottle, so you don’t need to use a whole lot for coverage. I believe I got this bottle per month ago and so i still need a bit more than half a bottle left. It’s great! I love it. Hopefully this is the end of the road for me, but usually it isn’t!
